Day 141-142: August 21-22nd
Double Zero
I took a double zero to allow my leg to rest and heal. We got a motel and I spent most of my time with the leg elevated. The leg was feeling better by the end of the second day.

Day 140: August 20th
Mile 2073.7 (Warm Springs River) to Mile 2082.1
I only hiked eight miles today and met Deb. I decided to take two days off to rest and hopefully let my leg heal. I will be back on the Pacific Crest Trail soon.
Mileage: 8.4
Day 139: August 19th
Mile 2053.6 (Olallie Lake) to Mile 2073.7 (Warm Springs River)
The Pacific Crest Trail winds through the dense forests of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. Part of the trail was closed until recently because of forest fire. Fortunately only a few tenths of a mile burned and the trail was recently reopened.
My shin continues to be painful and slow me down, especially hiking downhill.
Mileage: 20.1

Day 138: Zero Day, Olallie Lake Rustic Resort
We have never stayed in a yurt before, and are finding the experience here at Olallie Lake very comfortable and relaxing.
I am resting my leg and taking care of laundry and resupply chores. Hopefully my leg feels better tomorrow.
It seems unusual to have an injury like this after 2,000 miles of hiking. I have been hiking slightly bigger mileages and I did not use my regular insoles (SuperFeet Blue) since Crater Lake so perhaps that was a factor.

Day 137: August 17th
Mile 2037.3 to Mile 2053.6 (Olallie Lake)
The highlight of today’s section of the Pacific Crest Trail was the very pretty Jefferson Park, at the base of Mount Jefferson.
I continued hiking to the Olallie Lake Resort where I met Deb for a planned resupply. My shin pain continues, so we decided to take a zero day here tomorrow to rest my leg. We were able to book two nights in one of the yurts here.
This is the first time I have been at Olallie Lake when the resort was open and it is really nice in a rustic way. When I was here in 2009 everything was closed for renovation. They have had several different owners over the past few years and the current owner is very helpful and hiker friendly. The small store is well stocked with a selection of hiker food.
Mileage: 16.3

Day 136: August 16th
Mile 2015 to Mile 2037.3
Today I started feeling pain in my right shin and I think I may be getting a shin splint. I hope it clears up quickly as it sometimes it’s a bit painful, especially on rocky downhill sections of the trail. Still walking northward.
Mileage: 22.3
